You Are What You Eat
Food is so important. The old aphorism “You are what you eat” comes to mind. Especially when traveling eating can be a major hassle. I’ve often brought sandwiches on the plane, only to scarf them and wind up hungry a few hours later.
When I travel I need a box meal, not some rinky-dink sandwich. I need a meal for a mensch! Where to turn, I wondered, for solid kosher meals? And then a light shone in front of me, as I browsed my computer, and lo and behold, Schicks Kosher Meals appeared, almost out of the blue.
So now, whenever I travel, even if it’s on a short trip, I have a great excuse to buy Schick’s Kosher Meals. And sometimes I buy some extras to keep for when I get home from a trip and don’t feel like going out or cooking. They’re so tasty! And healthy! When they’re ready to eat I open them up and wolf them down.
I guess, you could say that I’m a big eater. But you could also say that I’m kosher and healthy since the food that I eat most of the time is too, especially when I’m traveling.

The Nasty Cheeseburger.
The last time that I was on a plane, I was surprised to receive a meal. Not only that, but I was surprised at what the meal was. Along with a sweaty iceberg salad, was a nice hot Uncle Joe’s cheeseburger. It was wrapped singularly in plastic.
I was starving, and resignedly, I ate the iceberg lettuce, lightly dipping it in the fatty Kraft ranch salad dressing, for flavor. The burger smelled so good, but I knew about its artery-clogging contents – there weren’t even nutrition facts on it, surely a bad sign. And yet, succumbing to temptation, I took a bite. It was way too good. Like good in a McDonald’s after working out kind of way. I knew that this was my weekly fat content, right here, and yet I took another bite. “Argh,” I said mentally. I lifted the bun, to see if maybe I could remove the cheese, to improve the burger’s healthiness. No chance. The bun stuck dedicatedly to the cheese so that when I picked it up, little pustules of white bun glistened on the yellow cheese. It wasn’t worth it. In disgust, I gave up. I’ll get something after I get off the plane, after I check in to my hotel, if it isn’t too late.
Why go through the hassle of nasty airline packaged meals? Just get kosher meals and don’t worry about it. Kosher meals are healthy, and they taste great.

Delicious Choices
Traveling can be stressful. You have luggage, tickets, schedules – and food. You can’t neglect your belly on a trip, but sometimes eating well can be very difficult, especially if you’re in a foreign country where you don’t speak the language, or the menus don’t have any kosher meals.
Taking travel meals to go is a great idea. Schicks kosher travel meals are delicious and come in all varieties. Chicken cutlets that are tender and lightly breaded are a delicious source of protein. They come with sides of steamed vegetables, which are extraordinarily healthy, potato kugel – who doesn’t love a good kugel? and fried cabbage and rotatoe (cabbage is one of the best foods for you).
Or perhaps you prefer some hearty roast beef covered in mushroom sauce, with home potatoes and steamed vegetables or, there’s potato kugel and snow peas.
And if it’s shabbos, and you want some nice kosher meals – there’s chicken soup and matzah balls, baked chicken, gefilte fish, challah, fruit compot, potato kugel, my mouth starts salivating just describing the night meal – there’s also a day meal that sounds just as delicious, but if I describe it to you I’m going to have to take a break and get a some travel meals for myself.

Asian Chicken? Try Schicks Instead.
How many times have you been to the airport and felt a grumbling in your tummy? “Ah,” you think, “taking a relaxing stroll over to the old food court will help pass the time before my departure, and it will help me to satisfy this urge growing within.” So you stroll over to the food court, see the Chinese counter, and boy does that sweet and sour chicken look good.
You order your sweet and sour chicken, with broccoli and fried rice, and begin eating it. O how delicious it is. You chomp and munch away, getting about halfway through. Urgh. They sure do give you a lot. But you know that you’ll be on the plane for at least 6 hours and the travel meals that Delta serves are not satisfying and overly expensive. Keep eating, yes, eat away! Three more bites, you tell yourself. You get to two and dispose of the Asian mess, as you feel it slide its way into your esophagus.
Travel meals don’t have to leave you feeling lethargic and greasy. Schicks kosher meals are prepared dinners fit for a gourmand. The sesame chicken nuggets are delectable and will satisfy your craving in a healthy way. And to think…the food court! Hah!
